Job Description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Operations Area Manager, Treating & Drying. In this role, you are for providing leadership and starch chemistry technical solutions to the Treating and Drying Unit operations. This position leads operations staff, including 39 hourly operator associates and four salaried Operations Leads, which includes managing daily, weekly and monthly unit tasks, and developing and delivering projects to meet unit safety, quality, production, cost, and customer delivery goals. At the NKC plant, they produce over 120 different products as a leading manufacturer of engineered materials, specialty foods, healthcare and industrial starches.

 

As an Operations Area Manager, your responsibilities will include:

    • Ensuring compliance with EHS programs in order to promote workforce stability, eliminate losses attributable to personal injury or property damage, and follow regulatory guidelines applicable to manufacturing processes and product characteristics. Leading incident and accident investigations.
    • Providing effective leadership by actively utilizing KPI’s to drive performance of operations team and overall process performance.
    • Supporting the response to day-to-day operational issues by coordinating within and across units and department and providing troubleshooting support.
    • Coordinating all necessary preventive and reactive maintenance requirements.
    • Leading operation to deliver on quality objectives.
    • Utilizing historical data to analyze and monitor key efficiencies and parameters against process design to assist with troubleshooting and deliver on cost and production goals.
    • Solving problems through development of creative and innovative solutions and challenging traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.
    • Using technical expertise and collaboration to identify improvement opportunities, developing projects and implementing them using standard project management methodologies.
    • Supporting employee development through training, performance management, and career development.

Qualified candidates will have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Business Management or related field OR
      5 years of demonstrated, effective manufacturing operations leadership experience.
    • Familiarity with SAP and Aspen.
    • Knowledge of the Wet Milling industry or relevant manufacturing experience in other industries such as food, chemical, bio-chemical or pharmaceutical is preferred.
    • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills.
