The Manager, WW Equipment Engineering will provide management and implementation of activities relating to Equipment Design/installation/integration Engineering at SoCal production facility and assist in projects globally.  Duties include: responsible for improving operational unit cost control, manage local engineering team, manage capex planning/tracking, oversee/schedule all plant Capex projects. This position manages the development and execution of equipment/process improvement/cost reduction, manufacturing processes, and packaging technology as well as Lean Enterprise activities in a regulated environment. Simultaneously, the position maintains and continuously improves equipment/operations on a consistent basis pursuant to corporate guidelines and policies.
  • Manage Engineering team. Develop career path and annual MBO’s for team.
  • Oversee and provide input on projects manage by other team members. 
  • Manage Capital Expenditures for facility.  Includes planning, scheduling, assigning, forecasting, cost estimating,
  • Project manage projects from budgeting, specification/design, scheduling, testing, and implementation.
  • Manage the Equipment Engineering operations on a global basis to include both owned and third-party locations (when applicable). 
  • Maintain/enhance “Best in Class/World Class” performance through implementation of key initiatives and strategies.
  • Ensure all corporate/regional procedures and policies are followed and in compliance to internal and external regulatory entities.
  • Perform and provide accurate data analysis to help drive management decisions to support existing/new initiatives.
  • Responsible for effective reduction of operational costs and cost of goods.
  • Participate in/develop programs for setting expectations/standards and to implement continuous improvement/cost savings activities.
  • Responsible to ensure full support to regional operations/marketing/sales to ensure that existing/new product needs are met in an expeditious manner.
  • Contribute and/or develop business continuity plans for manufacturing engineering operations.
  • Complete the construction, installation, commissioning, and validation of the process systems at Herbalife’s focus facilities.
  • Coordinate with Plant staff development and implementation of operator/maintenance training and SOPs, as well as establishing the required preventative maintenance procedures and policies.
  • Capture and institute engineering standards based on learnings from previous projects for use in future Herbalife Manufacturing projects.
  • Provide direction on new equipment purchases and integration/installation plans as well as new construction opportunities globally.
  • Provide effective reporting for accountability to performance goals.
  • Work with validation to conduct DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ on all new equipment and to insure all required documents are provided.
Manage 2-3-person engineering team.  Manages and is accountable for the manufacturing and packaging equipment engineering operations, providing leadership/guidance and motivation to personnel to achieve operational objectives that include, but not limited to, supporting/improving customer service/quality for Cost/Delivery/Profit Improvement
    • Organizational/Motivational leadership skills coupled with strong technical and analytical ability
    • Strong technical skills with the ability to understand formulations/process/procedures
    • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Production/Process/Equipment
    • Sound judgment with effective technical/operational and business focus
    • Strong Project management skill set.  Must be able to manage multiple and competing tasks.
    • Construction management skills.
    • Ability to work many disciplines and departments to achieve project goals.
    • Experience with manufacturing integration/cultural change
    • 7+ years of experience with relevant manufacturing/engineering/technical management
    • 7+ years’ experience and aptitude in Manufacturing operations/JV/Toll/Supplier management environment
    • Practical knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma enterprise (can we define amount)
    • Working knowledge of materials/process/equipment (i.e. characterization/effect on manufacturing environment)
    • Mechanical aptitude, understanding equipment and operation functionality to establish/challenge/optimize run rates/productivity
    • Demonstrated ability and effectiveness in developing/writing/revamping procedures
    • Ability to educate others in process improvement methodologies
    • Construction management skills.
    • Windows Project, Excel skills are a must.
    • Willing to travel 10-20% of the time
    • 10 years’ experience with relevant manufacturing/engineering/technical management
    • 10 years establishing manufacturing and/ reengineering systems and organizations
    • 5 years’ experience in Food/Dietary/Nutritional/Pharmaceutical or kindred product industries
    • 5 years’ experience in cGMP or other regulatory environments



    • Bachelor’s Degree Food, Bioprocess, Agricultural, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering


    • Master of Engineering
    • Machine Design/Automation, Six Sigma Certifications, and/or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
