Need a Manufacturing Engineer with the ability to program, set up and operate tooling (CNC mills and lathes), should know Fanuc controls, or Haas controls, or Mazak controls, will include programming, setup, and operating those machines. The Engineer will be given a blueprint to and go make the part, will write the program, pick cutting tools, determine fixturing, set up the machine, get the part running, and hand it off to the production folks. Should have some kind of Cadcam experience, they use SolidEdge for 3d drawings and blueprints but the manager will take any Cad experience, they program in Esprit (but other programs are fine like Mastercam, there’s a myriad of different software out there), should have at least 5 years, preferably 10 years experience. It’ll require someone who wants to be out on the floor. Degree isn't required.

70k – 90k pay range (will also pay on an hourly rate basis $32/hr – $36/hr if that's your preference) DOE, Mon – Fri, occasional Saturdays, 7 am – 4 pm, they service firearms and automotive manufacturing with a wide variety of machining, They have 150 pieces of CNC machinery there, they have a site in NY and a small one in Ohio so you may have an opportunity to work on special projects at other sites if that's your desire.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Engineer and launch all new projects determined by the Engineering Director, including complete cutting tool packages, CNC part programs, fixture design /build and all other processes to fully manufacture the new project.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and maintain all policies of the company including but not limited to ISO Standards, Health and Safety Requirements, Continuous Improvement as well as standard work procedures.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction meetings, providing input on manufacturability, tooling, process, and gage issues.
  • Determine, design, and order with Tool Buyer complete cutting tool packages for all new requirements including establishing minimum and maximum quantities.
  • Design and fabricate machining fixtures
  • Write CNC part program. Assemble new part tooling package.
  • Set up and debug machine part program on C.N.C. equipment.
  • Submit and assist the QC dept. in checking the first piece.
  • Run off PPAP parts, and bring process up to full production, time every process and turn in time study to Engineering Director
  • Quoted cycle times must be achieved before job can be handed off.
  • Train and certify Manufacturing Tech or Group leader on every part of the process.
  • Perform testing of all new cutting tools, or systems as assigned by Engineering Director
  • Audit existing jobs as part of continuous improvement process.
  • Technical and problem-solving support to Manufacturing.
  • Assist Project Engineers and Manufacturing on internal and external DMRs in the form of permanent fail-safe solutions.
  • Identify any SPC requirements on special process dimensions that would be necessary to establish a confidence level in the manufacturing process.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear safety equipment as required. Enforce safety policy and promote safe working practices.
  • Support and maintain all policies of the company including but not limited to ISO Standards, Health and Safety Requirements, Continuous Improvement as well as standard work procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty and responsibility. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience set up and program of C.N.C. lathes. Twin spindle, Twin turret lathes preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience set up and program of C.N.C. vertical machining centers.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience engineering drawing reading and interpretation, including GD&T.
  • MS Office proficient, including a minimum of Word, Excel, Outlook
